Intensive English Courses vs. Regular English Courses

Published: Jul, 15, 2018 | Author: Lucas Weaver

“Should I take an intensive English course?”

Essentially, intensive English courses are more frequent and usually last longer. While a normal course might be once or twice per week, an intensive English course is usually five days a week.

Many English language students get confused about the difference between regular English courses and Intensive English courses. But, the differences are quite simple.
Most courses also last around 2-3 hours. But in an intensive English course, you can expect 3-4 hour class lengths, with longer breaks in the middle.

Why Take an Intensive English Course

If you’re looking for the best way to improve your English speaking skills quickly, an intensive course might be best for you.
Getting to speak English every day for 3-4 hours is a great way to build habits. By building up your habits of speaking English every day, you will get the muscle memory you need to speak English comfortably. Intensive courses allow you to use the new vocabulary you learn, as well as get corrections from your teacher.

When to Take a Regular English Course

When is an intensive English course not for you? If you’re not a “speed learner”, an intensive course may be a bit too fast for you. It can at times be too much to ask your brain to learn a ton of new information in a short amount of time. As a result, you may not learn as much as you should, and possibly not get your money’s worth out of your course.
In the end, it’s up to you to decide if you want the challenge of an intensive English course or the comfort of a regular course. Either way, just choose the course option that’s best for you.
